BRIAN MISA, was born in Auckland in 1945, son of Toma Misic (1896 – 1966) and Antica Radonich (1908 – 2000) from Podgora. Antica’s father Jure came out to New Zealand in 1893 and was gum digging on the Northern Wairoa for 13 years, before returning to Croatia. In New Zealand Toma worked on the Hauraki plains drainage contract. After World War I his brother Karl joined him and together, they established Capitol Fish Mart, operating a fishing boat to supply their fresh fish business. As a young man Brian established a Christmas tree business and he worked in the fish mart. Brian studied accountancy at Auckland University and went on to full time employment as an accountant. Brian married Slavenka Simich who is secretary of the Auckland Dalmatian Club Archive.
