Anthony Misetich was born and raised in San Pedro, California, USA. He attended elementary school at South Shores elementary school in San Pedro and graduated in 1972.  Anthony’s Croatian family roots stem from the tuna fishing industry, his grandfather Anton Misetich from Selca Brac, Croatia was a captain and owner of 12 fishing vessels and his maternal grandfather Luka Bogdanovich from Komiza Croatia was the plant manager at Star Kist Foods Inc. a company founded by Martin J. Bogdanovich from Komiza, Croatia.  His father Anthony J. Misetich was President of San Pedro High School in 1955.

Anthony’s family moved from San Pedro to Rancho Palos Verdes in 1972.  Anthony attended local schools in the Palos Verdes school district including Dapplegray Intermediate School and Miraleste High School. Anthony was involved in sports at Miraleste High School and was a starting offensive and defensive tackle on the varsity football team coached by Gary Kimbrell in 1977, which won the Pioneer League championship and went onto the CIF semifinals. He was named first team All Pioneer League his senior year and All CIF and recently inducted into the Miraleste High School Hall of Fame (in 2025) for his athletic achievements.

During the summers in high school, he worked as a crewmember on his family’s fishing boat and unloaded fish at the canneries on Terminal Island. He accumulated nearly 200 days of sea time over the course of several summers traveling to fishing grounds off of Mexico and Central America.

Anthony attended Occidental College and played varsity football for OXY in the early 1980’s. He graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1983 and joined General Petroleum, a petroleum marketing company in 1984.

Anthony completed a 26-year career at General Petroleum in October 2010 in which he held several management positions in sales and marketing, operations and his last assignment was as Senior Vice President. In this role he was responsible for overseeing sales and marketing of the commercial divisions and the marine operations of the company’s lubricant manufacturing plants in Los Angeles and Panama. He was the national Executive Director for the Chevron and Texaco Petroleum Marketers Association 2013-2023. He is currently President of Sujak Consulting Services specializing in consulting and expertise to the Petroleum Industry.

Anthony has been extensively involved in community and business affairs.  He has served as President of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce (HAIC) in 2009, a business trade organization dedicated to the development of business in the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and to the growth of international trade. He has served on the HAIC government affairs committee and has traveled to Sacramento to meet with legislative leaders.

He was President of the Dalmatian American Club of San Pedro 1998-1999, a LA city commissioner (relocation appeals board 1999-2006), Honorary Mayor of San Pedro 2005-2007, and served on the RPV Finance advisory committee in 2008.

Anthony was elected to the Rancho Palos Verdes city council in November 2009 and re-elected in 2013. He was the top vote getter in both elections. He served as the Mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes in 2012. He has also served as a delegate on behalf of the city to the West Basin Municipal Water District, Palos Verdes Transit Authority, County Sanitation Districts, So. Bay Cities Council of Governments, Peninsula Regional Law Enforcement Committee, California Joint Powers Authority, California Contract Cities.

Anthony currently lives with his wife in Montgomery, Texas and also continues to have a home in San Pedro. Anthony and his wife Chris have three children, a daughter Kelley and two sons Matthew and Jonathan.
