Anthony Misetich was first elected to the RPV city council in November 2009 and re-elected in 2013. He was the top vote getter in both elections. He served as the Mayor of RPV in 2012 and is currently serving as a councilman. Anthony is a 27-year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes and a respected consultant in the energy industry. Anthony attended local schools including Dapplegray Intermediate School and Miraleste High School. He is the first and only RPV council member that was a PVPUSD graduate. Anthony was involved in sports at Miraleste High School and was a starting offensive and defensive tackle on the varsity football team coached by Gary Kimbrell. In 1977 Miraleste won the Pioneer League championship and went onto the CIF playoffs. He was named first team All Pioneer League and All CIF his senior year. Anthony attended Occidental College and the Graduate School of Sales and Marketing Management at Syracuse University. He played varsity football for Occidental in the early 1980’s. He graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1983 and joined General Petroleum, an energy marketing company in 1984. Anthony completed a 26-year career at General Petroleum in which he held several management positions in sales, marketing and operations and with his last assignment as Sr. Vice President of manufacturing. He is currently President of Sujak Consulting Services specializing in consulting and expertise to the energy industry. Anthony has been extensively involved in community and business affairs. He served as President of the Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce (HAIC) in 2009, a business trade organization dedicated to the development of business in the ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and to the growth of international trade. He has served on the HAIC government affairs committee and has traveled to Sacramento to meet with legislative leaders. He has also served as a Los Angeles city commissioner (relocation appeals board 1999-2006), Honorary Mayor of San Pedro 2005-2007, and served on the RPV Finance advisory committee in 2008. Anthony was the council’s key proponent of zero based budgeting principles which the city adopted in 2010 and of the RPV Leadership Academy which has trained numerous city commissioners, committee members and two council members in the workings of RPV local government since its inception in 2011. Anthony has served on numerous City Council Subcommittees while on the city council including serving as a delegate to the West Basin Municipal Water District, the Palos Verdes Transit Authority, Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, So. Bay Cities Council of Governments, Peninsula Regional Law Enforcement Committee, California Joint Powers Authority, California Contract Cities and the city audit and solid waste subcommittees. Anthony and his wife Chris have three children, a daughter Kelley and sons Matthew and Jonathan who are also graduates of the PVPUSD.
