FRANK VINAC was bron in Kaitaia in 1939 the son of Ante Tony (1895 1976) and Ane Despot (1911 – 2007) from Zaostrog. Tony worked in the copper mines in Arizona for two years before coming to New Zealand to work as a gum digger. He went on to buy a farm to become a cattle farmer. Frank married Cherie Batistich (1943 – 2005) and was a cattle farmer for all his working life. He is an enthusiastic historian who worked with Kaye Dragicevich to ensure her book Pioneer Dalmatian Settlers of the Far North was completed and published.
